The working royals who attended the King's Coronation lunch
The Prince and Princess of Wales - This meeting could have made for awkward lunchtime chat after Harry was pictured seemingly glaring at his older brother, William, during the Coronation. Harry accused William of assaulting him in his memoir Spare.
Anne, Princess Royal - The late Queen’s second child and only daughter. During yesterday’s ceremony, Harry was seen smiling at Anne, appearing to show the Princess Royal has buried the hatched with the duke.
Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward - Prince Edward was given the title of Duke on his 59th birthday. He is the late Queen’s youngest child.
Duchess of Edinburgh, Sophie - Sophie Wessex is Prince Edward’s wife, and now a higher-ranking royal than Meghan Markle. It was reported by the Mail on Sunday she is "relieved" she no longer has to curtsy to the Duchess of Sussex.
Duke of Gloucester, Prince Richard, 78 - He is the youngest of King George V’s grandchildren and cousin to the late Queen. He still attends national and international events in support of the sovereign.
Duchess of Gloucester, Birgitte - Wife of Prince Richard, Birgitte performs a lot of charity work for the Monarch. The Duchess of Gloucester was born Birgitte Eva van Deurs Henriksen on 20 June 1946 in Odense, Denmark.
King Charles, who has shared his preference for a slimmed-down royal family,
will have also invited non-working royals,
such as Zara and Mike Tindall – Anne’s daughter, and son-in-law.
The royal children,
including William and Kate’s children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis were also in attendance at lunch.
Mike and Zara's children, Mia, 9, Lena, 4, and Lucas Tindall, 2, are thought to also have been invited.
However, it is not clear whether they would have eaten at the same table. At the official Christmas lunches, the royal children are given their own table, Mike Tindall revealed in a podcast.
It is also thought the late Queen's first cousin, The Honourable Lady Ogilvy, Princess Alexandra attended the post-Coronation lunch, along with Prince Edward, Duke of Kent -- another of the late Queen's cousins -- and his wife Katharine, Duchess of Kent.
It is also likely Prince Andrew was also in attendance as he was at the pre-Coronation dinner on Friday night.
Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, the daughters of Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, are also thought to have been invited to the lunch. Similarly, Prince Edward’s children, Lady Louise Windsor and James, Earl of Wessex will have probably received an invitation.
Notably, Prince Andrew's ex wife Sarah Ferguson, known as "Fergie", did not receive an invitation to the Coronation ceremony so would not have attended the exclusive lunch.
Anne’s husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy James Hamilton Laurence is thought to have also been invited to the dinner. He was even given the special privilege of joining King Charles and Queen Camilla on the Buckingham Palace balcony. Sir Tim Laurence doesn’t perform any official royal duties but over the years has quietly supported Princess Anne behind the scenes. He was never given a royal title after marrying Princess Anne but has since been titled Knight Commander of the Royal Victorian Order and was made a personal aide-de-camp to Queen Elizabeth II. His quiet commitment to The Firm which earned him a special place in the hearts of other royals, including the late Queen who seemed to be especially fond of him.
